EOS

One form in five lights. A perforated Zsolnay porcelain body, a cut crystal ring, green-gold eosin glaze — and the same diamond raster on every one.

The eosin glaze was developed at the Zsolnay factory in Pécs in the 1890s: the porcelain surface turns from green to gold depending on the light. The perforation is not ornament but a lighting decision — the diamonds throw light onto wall and ceiling, while the crystal rings scatter the light at eye level so it does not glare.

The pieces are built from the same raster but for different jobs: one shows height, one gives rhythm to length, one marks a stretch of wall. Each is made to project — size, number and colour.

Colour

Four base colours are produced: gold, silver, purple and green. Green-gold is the original eosin; the other three are the same technique with a different metal salt — pattern and perforation unchanged.
